Murdoch Mafia Appoints Morgan as Media Minister in Classic McCarthy Manoeuvre

Nicky Morgan, who defended former Chancellor George Osborne becoming the Editor of the Evening Standard on the basis that he would be the voice of Liberal Conservatism, has accepted the position of Media Secretary in what must rank as the most craven Vichy-like government in the UK ever.

Shape-shifter Osborne backed Boris who, in turn, has hired Morgan.

Johnson visited Lebedev for a weekend in Italy in 2018 and refuses to disclose what was discussed.

In this Michael Wolff 2008 Vanity Fair piece, Johnson says of his behaviour toward foreign press barons (click, at the bottom, to page three of the following embedded pdf), “Still, if the owner is someone other than myself, I am ready to be Vichy-like. I am prepared to praise and flatter shamelessly.”

This slavishness to foreign capital will have been honed at Eton — Capital without Borders.

Morgan now rather conveniently oversees George Osborne’s Standard and his employer Lebedev Holdings’s Independent.

Morgan’s appointment comes two years after having defended Osborne’s right to edit the Standard, despite his deregulatory & austerity policies still unfolding – starting with Grenfell.

That’s right, there is simply no non-captured London Newspaper.

The Standard was sold by the Mail to Lebedev around 2009.

And now it has a mystery Saudi Shareholder.

Even the UK Government says the Evening Standard is a tool of the Saudi State.

No wonder the previous Culture and Media Secretary, Jeremy Wright, who was already quite the poodle, had to go.

He ordered a public interest notice into the Saudi Shareholding last month.

wrightlebedevnotice

The Guardian reported this at the time.

Lebedev (and Osborne) urged the Government not to investigate the new Saudi owners.

Amol Rajan is the BBC’s Media editor. He appears to have something of the corporatist spook about him. Venal.

This is him talking about his ex-boss, Lebedev, selling stakes in the Standard and Independent to the Saudi state.

No-one seemed to notice at the time. But two years later it is being occasionally reported on because the FT looked into it and Wright felt he had to make it look like he wanted to do something.

Incidentally, Wright was Attorney General when Lisa Osofsky was appointed head of the Serious Fraud Office, another poodle organisation.

The Standard printed a puff piece on her a few months ago.

Standard.

Ofcom Stitch-Up

Ofcom the broadcast regulator is to deliver the verdict on the Saudi owners to Nicky Morgan on August 23rd.

Though Ofcom’s boss, Sharon White, is heading to John Lewis, she will be heading up Ofcom till the end of the year.

White, along with Standard Editor George Osborne & Lord Adonis, attended the Bilderberg Conference in 2017.

Her husband Robert Chote, runs the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR), created by George Osborne in 2010 to monitor public spending.

This was originally supposed to be seen as an independent body that signed off on austerity, but was eventually often referred to as the Treasury Poodle.

So it’s all very cosy.

The nepotism is staggering.

And it isn’t concealed, though questions aren’t exactly encouraged.

Loyalty over principle wins every time.

So where are the watchdogs?

What now for truth or justice?

As with Boris Johnson, one of Elias Canetti’s grandparent’s origins were in Turkey.

This morning as I skimmed Canetti’s speech for Hermann Broch’s 50th Birthday in Vienna in 1936, I was struck by the idea that a decent writer ought to be immediate, inexhaustible, universal, in opposition, and to have a special vice.

Could this be the beginning of a Golden Age of journalism?

Or a new McCarthy era in which all signs of socialism or solidarity with all fellow citizens no matter what their age or background is to be frowned upon, and even persecuted?

Keep your eye on developments re: the Kushners and the new film that will be coming out in September about Murdoch and Trump’s old mafia lawyer Roy Cohn.

With the Epstein paedophilia case suddenly coming to light and Tom Watson mainly pushing Labour Anti-Semitism stories while whitewashing all alleged Westminster VIP paedophiles such as Greville Janner, Leon Brittan and the known paedophile Harvey Proctor, the McCarthy Communist witch hunts (which were profoundly anti-semitic) and the Lavender Scare (into homosexuality) seem to be taking place in reverse.

VIP Paedophiles are getting the upper hand and the idea of anti-semitism is being used to pursue anti-racist lefties.

Ofcom Director denies Collusive Corruption

Ofcom’s Collusive Corruption

Ofcom Director of Communications Chris Wynn got in touch over Monday’s blogpost.

I just assumed this was spam. Later that day I got a reminder: Not wanting to seem rude, I sent Chris a reply:

The next morning Chris took things up a notch:

Chris was now doing to me precisely what he was accusing me of doing to Lord Adonis. Ascribing a meaning that simply wasn’t there.

We were arguing over the use of the word “over”. At least that’s what I thought.

I was still hoping things could stay friendly.

Getting a bit repetitive.

And finally:

I managed a reply:

Can we finish this?

And back to square one:

Let me reiterate:

Chris Wynn has been at Ofcom for over ten years and used to be a journalist. Can’t think why he feels the need to play games.

As Ofcom regulation of the BBC only started in 2017,  there might still be teething issues.

Still doesn’t explain why Ofcom are turning a tiny blogpost into such a big deal.

It’s common knowledge that the BBC is biased and that Ofcom is a toothless regulator.

And Fake News is now part of the lexicon.

Corporatist  voices and organised silence of Carbon Bubble, Clean Air and Climate Change are all classic symptoms of a captured media regulator.

How can Ofcom’s Director of Communications, Chris Wynn, deny that Ofcom, the BBC’s regulator, has a problem with collusive corruption?

The perception of bribery and corruption in UK business has been getting much worse over the last six years according to Big Four Audit firm Ernst and Young’s latest fraud survey.

E&Y Fraud Survey

OFCOM ruling on Climate Change

It is the first time Ofcom has found the BBC in breach since taking over regulation of the corporation in 2017.

So Ofcom took more than 7 months to find the BBC had breached their own broadcasting rules. From August 2017 to April 2018

That’s a long time to correct climate denier Brexiteer Nigel Lawson. Why so long?

And what have Ofcom got to say about the way the BBC legitimise deregulation, fracking and war?

BBC silence about the merging of corporate and state interests is consistent with collusive corruption and the dehumanising corporatist dismantling of public services.

BBC’s political presenters attack anyone with an ecological worldview even though it is widely understood our air is not clean and that pollution kills.

Ofcom is ok with Andrew Neil presenting BBC politics programmes while speaking at antisemitic Hungarian think tanks and chairing the Spectator whose assistant editor is racist Rod Liddle and whose culture critic is the openly fascist James Delingpole.

David Goodhart and several BBC commentators dismiss Windrush deportation cases as mere bureaucratic oversights. Imagine saying that about Nazi deportations? It was called a hostile environment. And Ofcom and the BBC did nothing to help report the illegal deportations as they happened

I wonder why.

Some of Ofcom’s top brass are very much on the gravy train. They are mainly ex-Treasury and audit people.  The ones policing the content are mainly ex-BBC. So conformity is scripted. The type of culture change we need to get a progressive agenda at the BBC and other Public Broadcasters just doesn’t exist. There is too much co-operation with the old way of doing things.

This is Lord Burns. Crossbencher in the Lords but obviously a Tory.

Terry Burns aka Teflon Terry, Lord Ubiquity, Lord Fixer (I’m not making this up) is on the Ofcom Board.

Talk about safe pair of hands!

He’s not on the Gravy Train. He is the Gravy Train.

There’ll be no interesting decisions under him.

Then there’s Baroness Noakes.

Jim Waterson of Guardian Media says that though Noakes is a card-carrying Tory, like others on the Ofcom Board,  she can’t be done for bias because there is no business decision that she has taken that can be seen to be influenced by her political position.

This is because Noakes deals with finance and not content. But funnily enough, I can’t find any minutes of what she has actually said in any meeting. So it looks like we can’t know.

Do she, or the other Tory directors,  have any say in choosing who regulates the BBC? .

It’s still altogether wrong that Noakes retweets Brexiteers, Privatisers, the Israeli Ambassador and Climate Deniers while chairing top committees at Ofcom and RBS. She’s also on an EU Lords Subcommittee.

It’s plain wrong to act as though she has no authority. She has. How is she using it? We deserve to know.

It’s a common perception that the BBC is super biased.

How can Noakes get away with being at the top of Ofcom and voting with the Government, but never get questioned over conflict of interest?

And when this government goes?

Ofcom will still be staffed by Lords and Baronesses on the Boards of several other firms.

IT’S NOT RIGHT.

In 2016 former Minister for Culture, Karen Bradley kicked former editor of the Economist Bill Emmott, off the Ofcom content and main board for being too pro-EU.

But Noakes is allowed to stay because her politics don’t actually affect her ability to be on the board.

What does the rest of the country think? Most people will never know as our media keeps this type of thing quiet.

Even former staff say it’s corrupt at the highest levels.

UKIP paid Bannon’s firm to swing Brexit

Finally a smoking gun. UKIP paid Steve Bannon’s Cambridge Analytica to swing Brexit.

Carole Cadwalladr and Peter Jukes have been tweeting about Brexit and outside interference for some time.

But this invoice, showing that UKIP paid Cambridge Analytica, says it all.

I must say I am one of the people who was going to vote Remain but changed their mind at the last minute. The arguments I fell for were persuasive so I was utterly convinced of them at the time.

The proof has come out just a few hours after the BBC read out Enoch’s Powell’s Rivers of Blood Speech on the television to commemorate’s its 50th anniversary.

The BBC is a public institution which shrouds itself in secrecy. Which shows how seriously our leaders take its propaganda purpose. If only we could know who had decided we needed to hear that speech in that particular way. The BBC relies on a single Supreme Court ruling to interpret the European Convention on Human Rights in such a way as to prevent the public from ever knowing who decides what at the BBC. You’re more likely to find out   about the contents of a telephone call between Theresa May and Donald Trump than between the producers and programme researchers of Newsnight.

Lord Andrew Adonis, rather annoying at the best of times has suddenly taken it upon himself to start objecting to the #brexitbroadcastingcorporation as he likes to call it.

He has a point, but sadly where were these arguments about BBC impartiality when he was achieving his political aims under Tony Blair?

Either way, things have got pretty bad. So much so that the newspapers have become very readable purely because of their  propaganda content.

Yesterday I glanced at a report from Kensington and Chelsea on page two of the FT.

It was quite obviously written to persuade FT readers in Kensington that are disgusted at the behaviour of the Conservative Party in relation in particular to Grenfell, but also Brexit, that there is a non-Labour alternative. Quite a PR coup for the Conservatives who have clearly already given up on the idea that they can maintain their stranglehold over the borough.

But also of interest from the national perspective as perception is everything and the Conservatives have to do everything they can to fight a Labour revival wherever it appears. Like the Americans in Latin America.

The few photos I can see of the Advance canvassers tell me they are not made up of Grenfell Fire survivors.

This looks like an outside operation – just as Cambridge Analytica were paid by UKIP to swing Brexit.

A quick look at who is following the Advance Party on Twitter shows a demographic that is even whiter than the Tories! Obviously there is nothing in itself wrong with that, but these people are obviously all Lib Dem Remainers who just can’t bring themselves to vote Labour.

The class struggle is alive and well in Kensington and Chelsea!

This retweet by one of the Advance Followers – says it all:
