The two £36 million donations that came in last week were quite a shock to the system for Labour MPs.
But they had literally just been whipped to accept the Government line in the commons just two or three weeks ago which left the door open to this type of thing.
It’s a measure of how Burnham and his acolytes have been bought off by big donors that they refused to place limits on UK based billionaires in the first place.

Of course, Labour have historically got their money from the unions and it was quite interesting to see the way reform engaged in dodgy polling to make it look like union members prefer reform
The Tories obviously raised a lot of money from wealthy people but they self-destructed and Labour could come in
Few people believe Kemi and the Tories will form the next government or be part of a power sharing agreement.
So Andy Burnham is going to have to come up with some moves in order to block reform from getting donations while at the same time looking like he’s consistently and coherently applying the law.
They are going to be introducing a bunch of amendments in the Lords but it’s all going to look very retroactive
