Digital ID to be discussed in Parliament

digital ID to be discussed by the public accounts committee

The public accounts committee are discussing digital ID today

Lib Dems Rachel Gilmour and Sarah Olney are on the committee and have raised objections in the past

Restore’s Rupert Lowe is against it – which is interesting given that Starmer tried to push ID Cards as a way of preventing “illegal workers”

Big Brother Watch, particularly its head Silkie Carlo, seems to swing to the right – Open Rights Group seems more on the Left and Liberty is quite hard to find these days so I’d say they are a bit of a blank canvas.

As one of my anarchist comrades points out – there isn’t that much presence of the left in civil liberties debates, the right ( particularly the far right ) are seizing the space.
