Sebastian Payne is frequently wrong. About everything. But that has never stopped him getting ahead.
Which says a lot about the way of the world.
For the rich and powerful to control the populace they need opinion forming newspapers to provide leadership, to set the agenda.
So someone like Sebastian, who is frequently wrong, is an asset as he is never cancelled – precisely because he parrots the dominant class’s talking points.
It would appear that the special skill in British politics and media is to be a mega corporate lobbyist without ever sounding like one.
Seeming to be independent when you are anything but.
Most people on the telly have mastered it, and if they deviate too far from the line they are never asked back.
You have to please the producers and the owners in order to get anywhere.
I know I have said the thing over and over again here – sorry for being so repetitive – in my defence, I mean it just as much as I always have.
A Payne in the Media
It’s interesting to see that Payne is being interviewed by Martine Croxxal. She’s a die-hard BEEB newsreader. They tried to dump her but now that she’s taking legal action against them for ageism and sexism they seem to have time for her again.
Onwards have got some good social media branding happening here – but that doesn’t hide the fact that Payne is getting a good kicking in the comments.
The comment section on social media can be a bit like being in an English pub – the level of banter can be quite high – though obviously there are trolls out there of all political colours.
I myself have been referred to as a troll – I must say I wear the badge as a matter of honour – the duplicitousness on show in public life needs calling out – Martine Croxxal blocked me a couple of years ago – I feel a bit sorry for her as she is clearly not the brightest, but there you go.
Payne is saying that his polling has found the three times as many young people support the idea of national service then or against it. As previously mentioned this gets completely taken apart in the comments. Dishonesty is just such a normal part of Conservative behaviour in public life that it would be a surprise if any of them ever told the truth.
