A friend suggested I look into how Elon got his name – there seem to be two data points
One of Elon’s paternal great grandfather‘s appears to have been called Elon as mentioned in this article
The piece also mentions the coincidence that Nazi scientist turned American citizen Werner von Braun wrote a book about colonizing Mars in which the rulers were called the Elon.
This was referred to on Twitter in 2021.
